Gate Valves are largely designed to start or stop a flow when a straight line flow of fluid and minimum flow restriction are needed. In service, these gate valves are pretty much kept either fully open, or fully closed. Gate valves are primarily made up to start or stop a flow when a straight line flow of fluid and minimum flow restriction is needed. In service, these Gate Valves are pretty much kept either fully open, or fully closed. When turned open, the disc of the gate is completely removed allowing materials to pass. This gives the gate valve good shut-off property and allows it a bidirectional movement. They cannot be quickly blocked or unblocked. The Gate Valves shakes when it is blocked.
When turned open, the disc of the gate is completely removed allowing materials to pass. even though this gives the valve good shut-off property and bidirectional, they cannot be quickly open or close and are responsive to shaking when open. |

Gate Valves
We Smitvalves is providing Gate Valves which are beneficial for applications involving slurries, as their “gates” can cut right through the slurry. Gate Valvesare also used in applications that involve viscous liquids such as heavy oils, light grease, varnish, molasses etc. Gate Valves are available in large sizes for handling thick flow. However, gate valves deny low pressure and are not optimal in applications that require sanitary conditions. Gate valves are excellent to use where a shutoff valve is needed. If required, gate valves can also be used for choking applications. However, this is not generally recommended as erosion occurs due to the vibrations of the disk in throttling applications.
Gate Valves are designed to minimize pressure drop across the gate valve in the fully opened position and stop the flow of fluid completely. The direction of the fluid remains the same and the diameter through which the process fluid passes is essentially equal to the pipe. Hence, they have minimal pressure drop when opened fully.Gate valves are generally fully opened or fully closed. The disk of a Gate Valves is completely removed when the valve is fully open and the disk is fully drawn up into the gate valve Bonnet. A Gate valve can be used for a wide range of liquids and provides a tight seal when closed. |

Gate Valves Body and Bonnet
The Gate Valves body has a straight through port without recesses except at the seat area. We are here to provide best Gate Valves. This ensures minimum turbulence, erosion and resistance to flow. This ensures accurate alignment of stem as well as a smooth operation. Long integral guide ribs in the body match with guide slots in the wedge for accurate alignment and guidance. Bonnet castings are of one-piece design, where the yoke is integral with the bonnet for gate valves of sizes up to 12” (300mm). Bolted bonnets are generally used in large sized of gate valves as well as in applications where pressure and load is expected to be higher.
Gate Valves are used for separation services in Oil and Gas, Petrochemical, Fossil Fuel and Nuclear Power, Steel, Chemical, Fertilizer, Mining and Solar sectors offering excellent shut-off features as well as minimal pressure loss through the valve. A gate valve is used for a wide range of liquids as well as provides a tight seal when closed. Gate Valves are of flexible wedge, outside screw and yoke and bolted-bonnet construction. |
